Talebearing-Twice told
Tales
Holy Spirit I give You control of my tongue, please put Your bit in my mouth and change my heart and words. James 3:9-10 says we use our mouths [words] to curse or bless. No wonder the word ‘damn’ is a curse word, it’s cursing them, sending doom and destruction upon them. The word curse means to separate and denounce evil against; hence to detest utterly or abhor. It’s the act of invoking evil upon someone; it’s to pray that a curse or calamity may fall on someone. Since I have the power in my tongue to pronounce life [blessings] or death [curses] I have to be very careful of my words. God says to choose life so we and our seed may live (Deu. 30:19). Interestingly it says “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life.” Blessing is life and cursing is death. Father, this matter of my tongue is my biggest problem. I would never pick up a knife and stab anyone, only if they were literally threading the life of my family or myself. So why do I allow my tongue to speak death curses over anyone? Remind me Holy Spirit of the power in my tongue before I speak. You have to separate Your Word and show me it’s truth. I haven’t been cursing, praying evil upon anyone, but I have been talebearing, which is bearing a tale I heard and recounting it to someone else. Yet according to Your Word, talebearers inflict wounds (Pro. 18:8); reveal secrets and belittles and despises (Pro. 11:12-13, 20:19); causes strife (Pro. 26:22). I’ve been sowing seeds of discord; helping to sow ‘seeds of discord’ again.
Yes child, you have, now stop it.
Help me! Help me not to be drawn into any talebearing and especially not adding my two-cents to it. Pro. 26:22 “The words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty morsels or words of sport (to some, but to others they are like deadly wounds); and they go down into the innermost parts of the body (or of the victim’s nature).” Verse 23 gives a very vivid picture of insincere words, how that person looks to You Lord.
It does child for I see truth and know truth when I see it. It grieves My heart when My children devour one another with their words, leaving gaping holes and wounds unhealed for the enemy to access. Only love covers and heals. Only love sooths and heals like a sweet soothing balm that leaves the sweetest aroma behind.
My words carry a smell?
They do as all words do, trust Me to instruct you so you become a dispenser of life, mercy, and grace. So your words become healing instruments in many of My people.
I just thought of Florence Nightingale how she spent her life caring for and dressing the physical wounds of soldiers. Make me a spiritual Florence Nightingale caring for and dressing the spiritual wounds of Your people. Help me stop wounding and start healing! When we wound people leaving gaping holes and wounds You said satan can access those. I couldn’t help but think how wounds seep and reek with infection if left unattended. He infects these wounds and causes infection to set up in them. I can see how our words wound and then satan goes in there and brings his lies and causes bitterness, anger, strife, and even a sense of failure and hopelessness to begin to fester. Dear God save us from ourselves, our words!! Ps 141:3-4 has been my prayer off and on for a long time but now that part that says “let me not eat of their dainties” has taken on a whole new meaning, the dainties are talebearing words. Father whatever is inside of me that desires theses ‘dainties’, that likes the first taste of them, please cleanse and remove it from me. I know I’m not the only one who does this but You’ve give me so much, much truth and insight in Your Word, therefore You require more from me.
I do child. I expect that not only do you walk in this revealed truth but I also expect you to be a dispenser of it also. No way for you not to be if you fill yourself with its truth. Trust Me child to do the rest.
If I put Your Word in me You’ll bring it forth so I can do it.
Yes, always yes. Every time yes, are not My Words yea and amen, so be it? Trust them and Me for they are your quality of life and breath.
Sweet breath comes from sweet words. Your Word is my spiritual ‘breath mint’ sweetening my mouth.
Story of a talebearer: Gen. 9:20-26 “And Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard. And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and he was uncovered and lay naked in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, glanced at and saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside. So Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon the shoulders of both, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness. When Noah awoke from his wine, and knew the thing which his youngest son had done to him, He exclaimed, Cursed be Canaan! He shall be the servant of servants to his brethren! He also said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! And blessed by the Lord my God be Shem! And let Canaan be his servant.”
